Hey everyone! Welcome, and thanks for checking out my Blog! My blog is rather new, so posts come slowly, as I am always editing my backlog of photos from past shoots. Here, you can read about what kind of photo projects I'm up to, contact me if you're interested in modeling, or for some cool links/information about things that are going on in my life, and notes about the people I work with. I DID have a blog on blog.com, but I like the interface on blogger.com better, so I made the switch.
I have been up to many cool things lately! Let me have a re-cap of all the photo shoots I've done so far this month. To start, my stylist Lisa and I got together with my main model Megan and did part of a calendar photo shoot for the Hollywood-esque month of July. I'm telling you, this girl is a diamond in the rough for sure, and she can pull off any look. Big props to Lisa on hair and makeup!
Then, I met Chitown's Finest Breakers, a kids break dancing group from Chicago. We met at the Jabbawockeez show at MGM, and had a photo shoot within two days. These kids are amazingly talented, well behaved, so tight on their moves, and very professional and put together. I hope these guys make it big! You can check them out on Myspace here or Facebook here. These guys have been on Oprah, auditioned for America's Best Dance Crew, and their lead head spinner Spinderella will be in upcoming T*Mobile commercials.
Next, I got with my stylist Lisa Robinson who you can check out on Model Mayhem at modelmayhem.com/funsize and we had a midnight black and white shoot at Anthem skatepark. She is an amazing make-up artist, and she is for hire, and works out of local Las Vegas salon Saints and Sinners. We are always looking to collaborate on TFP/TFCD projects. She is a great model, but unfortunately it was VERY cold and we had to leave early since we were trespassing.
Afterward, I took my friend Maxx downtown to the Las Vegas Arts District where they hold First Friday, and we did kind of a hitch-hiker/beatnick/homeless/indie shoot. We had a good time, but it was a very hot day so we finished up with a nice swim. The shoot went well, but we had a small problem with overexposure when we were shooting on the sidewalk.
James is a friend of mine in the band Sancho Johnny, and I shot their rehearsal in their studio space last night.
This weekend I am shooting the album cover for Mirror of Fault, a rock band in Las Vegas. Previous members have been featured in Las Vegas Weekly, 944, Vegas Rocks!, and other local publications. this should be a very ethereal shoot, and very gypsy-like. I am bringing Maxx as make-up/hair standby. (I somehow can't find the link to their webpage, but I will do it as soon as possible!) Their temporary myspace is www.myspace.com/mirroroffault.
Starting June 1st, I will be working with model Ana on upcoming Cosplay/Manga portraiture projects. You can check out her website at http://www.mangafreak150.com. I was refilling my printer ink at Office Depot, and I randomly spotted her at the store, dropped her my number, and asked if she'd like to shoot sometime. She said yes! I also got in touch with photographer Terrell Neasley, a blast from my past. He came over to my house and shot me one day, and we've been looking to do projects that get past the taboos of women's sexuality, and vulvas! Interesting, I know. We are getting together to talk shop and discuss copyrights. You can view his work at www.photoanthems.com or his Model Mayhem ID #573924.
Also, I will be shooting with Megan again this month, a live show next tuesday for Sancho Johnny, and who knows what else! I finally created my Model Mayhem profile. You can find me there and contact me for specific projects at www.modelmayhem.com/anaisproductions.
FUN NOTE! A few years ago I posed nude for a book called Naked Las Vegas by Greg Friedler. The book was published about a year ago, and I was featured in the book along with my two friends. An additional documentary called Stripped: Greg Friedler's Naked Las Vegas by David Palmer was just released on HBO and SHOWTIME and was also in SUNDANCE! There's an article about it in Las Vegas Weekly March 18-24, 2010 issue, and I was also in the August? 2007 issue of the Las Vegas Weekly associated with the same project. The video was also being shown at the Onyx Theatre on Sahara. You can look at Greg Friedler's work on the web at www.gregfriedler.com and you can catch David Palmer at www.palmer-inc.com or www.strippedthefilm.com. There's also a copy of the March article from Las Vegas Weekly here and here.
Greg Friedler is an amazing photographer and cool dude to work with and he was very professional. David Palmer was a great dude with a great charisma and lots of patience during my interview. I love both these guys and offer them my support for all their upcoming projects, as I am thrilled to have been a part of theirs. So, you can check me out on there. Live and nude! I don't think my little video blurb made me seem brilliant at all, but at least I am the very first person featured in the movie!
Additionally, I will be volunteering at the Sex Workers' Rights Desiree Alliance conference here this July 25-30, 2010. You can look at the schedule and check out the events at the organization's website here. Speakers like Nina Hartley, Ronald Weitzer, and Scarlett Lake will be talking about the sex industry, sex workers' rights, what you can do to protect yourself, and ways to stay positive about the work that you do. This workshop is going to be a HUGE amount of information for anyone looking to get into the sex industry or protect and educate themselves while working in an industry that supports a person's right to choose what they do with their bodies.
***DISCLAIMER: I DO SUPPORT THE SEX INDUSTRY, AND SEX WORKERS! I believe it is a person's right to choose what they want to do with their bodies, how they want to make their money, and I don't believe in "sluts" and "whores." Everyone is a beautiful person, we do not all have the same job! As a former sex worker, and someone who stays active in the adult entertainment industry, and fetish/lifestyle/photography, I urge you to support the Desiree Aliance! If you are interested in having your business donate and purchase a small advertisement for their Conference Brochure, please contact me at anaisproductions@gmail.com for rates!
Upcoming projects: Look forward to my Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, and Model Mayhem links! And always be sure to check out the people that I'm working with, they are luscious!
XOXO, Sam
